Turbulence
Turbulence
Isaiah 26:3

Isaiah 26:3

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind
is stayed on You: because he trusts in You.”

As I write this I am on a plane that is experiencing a bit of turbulence. And to be honest, no matter how many times I fly, being in a metal tube suspended thousands of feet up in the air is always a bit scary. I would much rather be standing on some good ol' solid ground right about now. Yet, as I seek the Lord in prayer, a promise comes to mind; “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You: because he trusts in You.” -Isaiah 26:3

Note that the promise is not that God will keep him from trouble, but that He will keep him “in perfect peace” (despite the trouble). This is such a comforting word, because in this life we will experience turbulence! Things will get scary, trials will visit us, suffering will not bypass us, and our faith will be tested. And yet, despite all of this, the believer has something solid he or she can stand on– God’s word and promises.

And all we have to do to experience God’s complete peace—which is really God’s stability through the turbulence—is simply to fix our thoughts on Him, and trust in His word. You see, it is by trusting in the word of God that we trust in the God of the word, because “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” (Rom 10:17)

So it is through His very word that God has chosen to reveal Himself; and it is His promises that assure us of what He is going to do if we choose to trust Him.

So I encourage you to run to this promise often, and see that the Lord is faithful to dispense His perfect peace when you need it most.
