Growing up on a cattle ranch about twenty miles from Camp Verde, Arizona, I attended Church on an irregular basis. At the age of 7 my family bought a house in town so we could attend school. We spent most of the summer and weekends at the ranch.I was considered very quiet and shy until my early childhood. While I was in eighth grade my energy became devoted to horseback riding, football, basketball and girls. In Camp Verde, much like in practically every town in America, it was considered the "in thing" to go partying and getting drunk. This began to consume my life for many weekends well into my college years.
In my senior year of high school, I began searching for God and began attending church more often. While in college in Thatcher, Arizona. I looked for eternal life in a cult church. While studying with their missionaries, they offered their Church as the answer to eternal life and to becoming a 'god.' I had enough knowledge about the Bible to know these answers were wrong. It was during this time that my mother was praying for me and gave me a copy of "The Living Bible" and a book called "The Cross And The Switchblade". These books showed me that the God of the Bible was alive today. During my search I put my trust in Jesus Christ and received Him as my Lord and Savior, all of this was a direct result of my mother's actions.
Having received the free gift of eternal life, The Lord gave me a greater desire to attend Church and to study into His Word, the Bible. Slowly, my life began to change. I stopped drinking because I wanted to be controlled by God rather than by alcohol and the pressure of those around me. I still have problems in life as we all do, but I know I am not facing them on my own. I recognize Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and no longer have that feeling that I may not spend eternity with Him in heaven.
If you would like to know Jesus Christ as YOUR personal Savior,
